Abstract
Ellis Island officially opened on January 1, 1892, and closed in 1954. It became the nation's premier federal immigration station during that time period. The station processed over 12 million immigrants. Using archival materials and showing present-day restoration results, this film records the history of Ellis Island as a symbol to the diverse peoples who came to America as immigrants.
