Abstract
Spotlight on Girls' all-girl TV crew explores why young women become involved in gangs and how communities can prevent intergenerational gang involvement. The Spotlight TV crew quizzes city residents on the street about the levels of gang violence they are aware of, and interviews gang intelligence and girls' health experts about the factors that underlie girls’ gang involvement. Fatherlessness is a recurring factor that is researched in-depth. Girls’ gang activity is also portrayed in dramatic, oral interpretation of literature on the subject.
