Voices @ the Hall
Abstract
Voices @ the Hall is a unique initiative that utilizes the potential of social media to support student inquiry and interdisciplinary collaboration. The foundation of this project stems from the collaboration between the Freshman Studies and English departments at Seton Hall University to create an opportunity for all incoming first-year students to participate in a large-scale oral history project, inspired by StoryCorps. Students were required to conduct their own "StoryCorps-esque" interviews using tools including high-end Nokia mobile devices to create their audio/video artifacts. This presentation highlights processes and challenges of implementing a large-scale student-created multimedia venture.
