Abstract
Presents a look at author James Baldwin's life as reflected in his own words and reminiscences of family and friends. Opening with Baldwin's funeral, this film traces the life history and accomplishments of this great African American writer and civil rights activist. Includes interviews with Maya Angelou and Amin Baraka, who place his major works within the context of African American literature and the broader civil rights struggle.
