Abstract
Many scientists believe that the greenhouse gas problem would be far worse today if the ocean didn't absorb as much carbon dioxide as it does. Some in the scientific community are looking into the feasibility of increasing the amount of carbon dioxide the ocean absorbs. According to some, one way to do this might be to increase marine photosynthesis, possibly by adding iron to the ocean. Others contend, however, that increasing oceanic absorption of carbon dioxide would only be beneficial if that carbon dioxide were somehow drawn down into the deep ocean.
