Abstract
This program's focus is on Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. As the strict classical disciplines of the eighteenth century faded, the Romantic movement and the landscape painters came to prominence: Constable, Turner, Goya, Jacques Louis David, Marat, Eugène Delacroix, and Caspar David Friedrich, leaving us such masterpieces as The Third of May, The Hay Wain and Rain, Steam and Speed. This series as a whole presents a unique and masterly survey of the greatest achievements in the history of art from the medieval era to the post-impressionist world.
