Abstract
Chrome plating is known for its bright silver, metallic appearance and is used as a decorative finish for hub caps, door knobs and water faucets. Nickel cadmium and zinc provide a protective finish that is used on building materials like nails and bolts. The most traditional method of electroplating involves the labor intensive work of manually dipping the workpieces into the process baths and one to three rinse tanks. However, new, automated methods--such as rack plating--eliminate much of the hand labor and allow facilities to plate mass quantities at one time.
