Abstract
An outbreak of cholera that attacked the Kenyan refugee camp where Dr. Suraj Achar was based dramatically changed the mission of his Doctors Without Borders nutrition team. Antibiotics, IV bags of fluid, and chemicals to purify the water and prevent the spread of cholera were airlifted to the site. The epidemic lasted a month, infecting many adults and children and frustrating the team of professionals who found it impossible to do everything they were trained to do.
