Abstract
Nancy Bohl, a psychologist trained to deal with the aftermath of traumatic events, recounts the scene in Riverside, CA, the site of a major shooting at City Hall. She and members of her counseling team debriefed survivors and staff members, as a group and one-on-one, to help them put the incident in perspective. Bohl talks about the gambit of reactions people have and the emotional states many experience before they can accept what has happened and move ahead with life.
