Abstract
Medications used in addiction treatment are almost always used in conjunction with psychosocial therapy that teaches people what triggers their addiction. People discover that they do have a choice, and that by learning different routines and how to manage their mood states they can eventually be successful. For most addicts, however, it is unrealistic to believe they will be successful the first time they try to kick the habit. Relapses are often part of the recovery process.
