Abstract
Despite the fact that more Americans are conscious about their weight and we have more low-fat foods and sugar substitutes, the incidence of obesity is increasing in the United States due to poor food choices and sedentary lifestyles. Obesity is defined as excess body fat, a BMI of 30 or above. All of the serious causes of early morbidity and mortality are associated with obesity, as is damage to a person's joints and lack of mobility.
