Abstract
The vaccine-preventable diseases of childhood are rarely seen in the industrialized nations of the world because of the immunization programs that exist. As the world health community gains control over polio, measles which kills 10% of the children who get it, is targeted for eradication. There hasn't been a case of smallpox in the world since 1977, but experts debate what to do with the two known repositories of the virus left. Should it be kept for research? Is it a potential bio-terrorism agent?
