Abstract
Standard diagnostic procedures like an electrocardiogram (EKG) can detect abnormal heartbeats, inadequate blood flow and heart enlargement. A stress test that records the heart beat during exercise finds problems that reveal themselves only when the heart is working hard. CT scans, ultrasounds, and cardiac MRI tests uncover early signs of the disease or the extent of plaque build-up and its composition. If the symptoms persist, the patient may undergo an angiogram to define the severity and nature of the problem.
