Abstract
How does a profession as immense as the medical community maintain quality control? "We rat on our own," says David Goldstein. "We're dealing with people's lives." The Internet provides consumers with evaluative information about hospitals and current research. Another option patients choose is the skill base offered by an academic medical center. As important as these factors are, the bottom line for many people is finding a doctor who connects with them as a human being.
