Abstract
Dr. Alexandra Levine, Chief of the Division of Hematology at the USC School of Medicine, talks about the fear in the medical community when the HIV/AIDS epidemic began. Dr. Levine explains that most doctors at the time were unwilling to treat patients who had AIDS. It was not until laws were passed in the United States that this began to change. Dr. Levine notes that, while the situation has improved a great deal since the early days of the epidemic, "...there are still nurses, dentists, doctors (and) surgeons who are unwilling to take care of these patients."
