Abstract
The belief that humans are superior to animals is central to the Judeo-Christian tradition. As recorded in Genesis, God said, "Let us make man in our image...and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle and over all the earth..." Like the Greeks early Christians believed it is man's reason that makes him Godlike.
