Abstract
With he advent of new computer technologies, enthusiasts predict that soon computers will do everything minds that can. In 1951, computer pioneer Alan Turing proposed a simple test for judging when a computer has reached the level of a human mind. When a computer and a human can talk back and forth and the human thinks he's talking to another human, then the computer will equal the human mind. One of the most famous arguments against the Turing Test is posed by philosopher John Searle. To Searle, the computer just manipulates formal symbols, whereas the mind has something in addition to add: meaning.
