Abstract
The correspondence theory of truth is considered the default position about truth. If a statement is true it is because it corresponds to some feature, some reality in the world independent of our ideas abut it. An approach to science called scientific realism takes the same position. Reality is in the world outside our ideas, and our theories will be true to the degree that they describe it accurately. The laws of nature are the fundamental principles built into the structure of the universe.
