Abstract
Conceptual relativism in many ways parallels the coherence theory of truth. The idea is that any representation of reality will always be influenced by the information available. There undoubtedly will be opposing points of view that do not reconcile with each other, but that does not mean that all representation is relative to the thinker. Thomas Kuhn disputes being called a relativist saying that while he does see paradigms as ever changing he also believes that they can be evaluated in terms of the physical evidence. To be a relativist, he says, would be to dismiss all markers of truth and success in science.
