Abstract
From the day they are born, people's chances in life differ. Some inherit money, social status, and good health; others are given far less. Justice, for some, is about redistributing the benefits and burdens, and providing an equality of opportunity. Others feel that distributive justice in inconsistent with responsibility people have to make choices for themselves and to live with the consequences of those choices. "What is Justice?" explores questions about distributive justice both from a national and global perspective, examining in the process the views of Aristotle's views of justice based on merit, the socialist justice of Karl Marx, John Rawls thoughts on justice and social welfare and Robert Nozick's views on justice as liberty. The segment also examines the problem of international justice.
