Abstract
Philosopher Martha Nussbaum discusses links between feminism and virtue ethics. She focuses on the idea espoused by some that feminist ethics should turn to virtue ethics in order to develop an ethics based on care and affiliation, and get away from the preoccupation with principle that's characteristic of liberal enlightenment theories. Professor Nussbaum cautions that, while love and care are fine in a life governed by practical reason, they can sometimes be used to enslave women by leading them to sacrifice their own good and to accept misery.
