Abstract
In presidential campaigns, media consumes over half the dollars a presidential candidate spends. Increasingly, candidates for public office rely on television ads to get their message out. Some experts decry the fact that candidates can buy television time, and that access is dependent on who has the money. It is important that candidates have the ability to get their message out, and to play the game to enough of a degree that they have a chance to win if enough people agree with them. Presidential debates are the closest forum we have for a more substantive discussion of the issues.
