Abstract
From its inception, the Constitution has supported both individual and group needs. The right to petition your government, a clause in the First Amendment that is sometimes overlooked, is an essential part of a democratic society. Certain interests, like the interests of children, are not well represented in the political arena. Citizen movements, however, are beginning to make a real difference, often harnessing technology to bring attention to their cause.
