"The good news is that, throughout the 1990's...the rate of unemployment dropped and a lot of new jobs were added to the American economy." But Secretary Reich notes that there was a big problem as well. "The median wage...hardly increased at all in the 1990's...The people in the top ten percent did very well...But inequality, as a result, did increase during the 1990's...The gaps are widening and the social and political consequences of that are potentially very, very disturbing."
