Abstract
Most people would like to believe that they're not prejudiced, that they don't hold unjustified negative attitudes toward the members of out groups. Mahzarin Banaji illustrates how the use of the Implicit Association Test can help people realize that they may harbor feelings of prejudice and not realize it. Awareness may be half the battle. Just because people have prejudices does not mean they have to engage in discrimination; it is malleable by context. Researchers have also found that crating situations that encourage cooperation and communication among groups can mitigate the distrust and antagonism associated with prejudice.
