Abstract
For aging adults, the loss of work due to retirement marks a major event in life's progression. For some, it is like losing a spouse; the meaning in their life is gone. But this image of older age is a far cry from what many are experiencing as members of one of the fastest growing population groups. Jim Birren's Guided Autobiography groups are a case in point.
