Abstract
Although opinions differ as to what determines sexual orientation, most scientists believe that for males it is primarily inborn. Simon LeVay, for example found a cluster of nerve cells in the hypothalamus that is larger in heterosexual males than women or gays. The same thing is true in the sheep kingdom. That is not to say that environment does not matter at all, as evidenced by the fact that only 50% of the time does an identical twin who is homosexual have a twin of the same orientation. In America there is great diversity in the experience of gays and lesbians.
