Abstract
Certain physiological reactions to stress can increase our vulnerability to infections diseases like colds or flu. A number of researchers did a series of studies to determine why. One factor seems to be that lymphocytes which serve an immune function are dramatically lower among individuals who are stressed. A study of cytokine production which when overproduced relates to colds was inconclusive. It has also proven difficult to pinpoint a causal relationship between stress and cancer.
