Abstract
Today's personality researchers are mainly interested in investigating the basic dimensions of personality and its connection to behavior. They start with a few characteristics that are stable over time and can be captured by a few dimensions. The most popular inventory is known as the Big Five. It includes openness to experience, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. Measures have been created that enable psychologists to assess where people are on the continuum for each trait..
