Abstract
Personality itself can become distorted to the point that psychological dysfunction becomes tightly interwoven with an individual's patterns of behavior. Such disorders are principally developmental in origin. There are a number of psychological illnesses that cluster around personality, such as narcissistic disorder, someone who is totally self absorbed. Narcissism by itself is not pathologic if one's sense of self is based on reality.
