Abstract
Frederick Winslow Taylor's approach to management, known as scientific management, involved breaking a job down into its component parts and structuring the work flow so that each part could be done as efficiently as possible. Although it was very effective at turning out a great number of goods very quickly, Taylor's approach often resulted in a much less motivated and therefore less productive labor force.
