Abstract
Research tools and techniques can be divided into two broad categories: qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative research methods usually involve looking at large samples of population. Qualitative research relies on participant observation and one-on-one interviews to understand the daily lives of people. These two approaches can be used together on a single study, but most researchers employ one or the other.
