Abstract
The impact of sexually transmitted diseases turned far darker than ever before in the early 1980's with the advent and proliferation of the human immunodeficiency virus or "HIV" and "AIDS." Although many new and powerful drugs have proved to be the most effective medical response thus far, there still is no known cure, and the fight against HIV and AIDS is far from over.
