Abstract
Sixty percent of Americans consider homosexual relations wrong, a figure that has decreased since the 1970s but is still out of step with other advanced industrial nations. Twenty-nine percent of gay men and 44 percent of lesbians currently live in committed relationships. Although there is uncertainty regarding the threat same-sex marriage would pose to the institution of marriage itself, concern is expressed over the welfare of children in a society that increasingly characterized by single parent families and nontraditional households. The personal story of Maya and Chino Scott-Chung, and their infant daughter Luna, highlights the commentary of featured experts.
