Abstract
At one time, businesses didn't have to worry about families because most women were home taking care of their children full-time. With women now in the workforce in large numbers, that has changed. Still, many companies consider family challenges to be strictly a private matter and don't have family-friendly policies. In much the same way, the United States is one of the few economically advanced nations in the world that does not have a national family and childcare policy.
