Abstract
As president, Taft's main foreign policy interest is extending American investments into less-developed regions, a strategy known as "dollar diplomacy." Custom receiverships are set up in the Caribbean to create a stable environment for canal. But in part, it also means the United States will be intervening militarily as well as evidenced by the United State's intrusion in Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. American presence although well-meaning generates resentment.
