Abstract
Television exploded into a business and in one generation revolutionized our lives. David Sarnoff, a poor Russian immigrant, was the first person to recognize the financial and commercial potential for television. He had championed the radio mania of the 1920s and set out to put a television in every home in America. At the World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York on April 30th 1939, Sarnoff unveiled commercial television, the most powerful means of advertising and entertainment yet invented. Our world would never be the same again.
