Abstract
American commander Douglas MacArthur is convinced that the U. S. can overthrow the North Korean regime and create a unified anti-communist Korea. As U.S. forces approach the Yalu River border between Korea and China, China sends a message that it will respond with a massive military invasion of its own if the U.S. comes closer. MacArthur ignores the warning and the Chinese enter the war with nearly 1 million troops in November of 1950. Peace talks start in 1951, and an armistice is signed in July of 1953.
