Abstract
Historian and author Bernard Bailyn talks about growing colonial opposition to British rule during the period from 1760-1776. Professor Bailyn describes it as, "...a buildup of apprehension, of fear that they were being subjected to a familiar kind of political pressure, which would end in the destruction of what (the colonists) prided themselves on as British liberties. And the way the British government managed these apprehensions, or rather failed to, is one of the key elements of this whole history."
