Abstract
American history professor Alice Kessler-Harris explains that both men and men were exploited during the Industrial Revolution. But those born in America had other options, Professor Kessler-Harris notes, including the "fabled frontier" and free land. The people who suffered the most during the Industrial Revolution were the immigrants who often had no choice but to work in factories for very little money under extremely adverse conditions.
