Abstract
Historian Peter Onuf explains that the 1783 Peace of Paris that followed the Revolutionary War was a mixed blessing for the Americans, because, "...much of American history for the next generation will be about the difficulty of consolidating American claims in the region that was recognized at the Peace of Paris." Complicating things still further was the fact that, "...there were Indians in the area (who) were not represented at the Peace of Paris but, of course, Indians had no idea they'd lost the Revolution, because they hadn't," Professor Onuf notes.
