Abstract
Nobel Prize winning professor of psychology Daniel Kahneman talks about framing, which he describes as, "...the influence of formulation on preference." Dr. Kahneman provides an example of survey respondents asked to react to statistics indicating a ten percent mortality rate following a surgical procedure, as compared to statistics showing a ninety percent survival rate following the same surgery. Although both statistics are numerically equivalent, the option framed in terms of mortality did not receive as positive a response as the one focused on survival.
