Abstract
This is part two of a history of the cultural evolution of man, from primitive times to the present, presented by the late Dr. Jacob Bronowski. This program begins with the long spring that came after the ice ages, when man discovered agriculture and began to domesticate both plant and animal. In the process the nomad became a settler, with only a few, like the Bakhtiari of Iran, retaining their traditional way of life. In the train of the cultivator came the predator and the intellectual roots of warfare. The greatest of the predators was Genghis Khan and in Afghanistan 350 horsemen re-create the tactics of the Mongols through games he introduced.
