Abstract
In this lecture “Empire of Illusion,” author and Pulitzer Prize-winning foreign reporter Chris Hedges addresses the futility and horror of war. The lecture is based on a famous speech denouncing the Vietnam War by the Rev. Martin Luther King delivered on April 4, 1967 in Riverside Church in New York City. In his lecture, Hedges discusses the significance of Martin Luther King Jr. & Malcolm X and lessons he has learned from a career as a war correspondent. He also relates his experiences writing an expose in high school and founding the Gay & Lesbian Alliance at Colgate University.
