Abstract
This clip provides a distance problem which illustrates the fundamentals of adding decimal fractions. The clip suggests entering the decimal point of the answer before starting to add. It also suggests adding a zero to the right of the decimal point in the case of a whole number that's one of the numbers being added. "It's a little safer to fill in that empty space to the right of the 4 with a zero," the clip explains. "It doesn't change the value of the number, but it helps us keep the columns straight."
