Abstract
This clip asks the question, "What is it that's negative about a negative fraction?", then considers examples when the numerator or the denominator is negative, or when both are. The clip works through each of these scenarios to determine which, if any, makes the entire fraction negative. We learn that a negative numerator over a negative denominator does not result in a negative fraction, but that a negative numerator over a positive denominator does result in a negative number, as does a positive numerator over a negative denominator. What's more, the clip explains, "...the fractions negative 2 over 3 and 2 over negative 3 aren't different numbers at all. They're just different ways of writing the same number."
