Abstract
This clip presents a practical problem involving the conversion of yards to meters. The student is asked to figure out how much electrical wire is left on a spool of 400 yards after an electrician uses 20 meters of wire for each of 16 apartments. "We know the amount used is 320 meters," the clip states, "...but we can't subtract this from the original amount until both amounts are in the same unit. We want the answer in meters," the clip continues, "...so we'll convert 400 yards to an equivalent number of meters."
