Abstract
In this program, Deborah Gruenfeld of the Center for Leadership examines the psychological effects of power, including single-mindedness in decision making, orientation to action, disinhibition, and depersonalization of others. Reviewing research, Gruenfeld explains that a lack of consequences can result in far-reaching errors in judgment and emphasizes the importance of checks and balances against abuses of power. She also considers the positive results of power.
