Abstract
Featuring helpful case studies, this program introduces skills and methods used in the preliminary, developmental, and theoretical side of the design process. Students are shown how two product designers research, experiment with, and communicate creative design ideas and solutions, and how they select and use specific materials, tools, and techniques. Including discussions of emerging technologies and developing-world markets, the video demonstrates the influence of design on a social, environmental, and individual level; it also emphasizes the need for designers to objectively evaluate their own work and seek opportunities for interacting with other designers.
