Abstract
This program, from The Living Body series, investigates the digestive consequences when a family sits down to lunch. As the first morsel is put into the mouth, the camera watches from inside as the molars clamp down and the process of breakdown and transformation occurs. It follows the food through the entire alimentary tract, showing how it is dissolved in acid, how the liver and gallbladder work, and how digestion and absorption work.
